The Construction Project Management Certificate Program
Designed for individuals who are interested in becoming project managers. The courses, taught by experienced members of the industry, will teach you to plan and control the resources of time, workforce, materials and money within the constraints of a project. Computer skills and technology developments with regard to construction budgeting, design, planning and scheduling will be a primary focus of the program.
The certificate "an optional professional credential" is awarded to students who complete three core courses and two additional courses from all construction management offerings, and provide evidence of satisfactory completion of an OSHA 30-hour Construction and Health Safety Outreach Program. The six courses required for a certificate may be completed within 12 months of initial enrollment, however, requirements must be completed within four years of initial enrollment. A minimum grade of 2.0 (C) is required in each course to be awarded a certificate.
Courses will be offered on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Classes will run for approximately 2-1/2 hours. The number of class meetings will range from 8 to 14, with 10 being the norm.
Enrollment is open to students with a high school diploma, construction experience and/or an interest in entering the construction field. Although the certificate program is designed for individuals within the construction industry interested in pursuing a career as a project manager, students with limited construction experience may be admitted.
